  Anything fun has to be eliminated. I would imagine since the Jewish religion celebrates the leaving of Egypt, the WT didn't grab that as something the witnesses could celebrate.

  Hahaha they could celebrate when the WT leaders were thrown in jail and got out. Everyone could dress in sackcloth and eat dry bread for "3 days".

  one sunday, we took our dad out for lunch.

  since it didn't open till 12:00, we were going to have to kill time.

  this restaurant is situated with other businesses around a small park and when we parked, we noticed there was a cart to the right in the park.

  Rub a dub - that does sound creepy. Like a zombie movie actually.

  Years and years ago, I went to a grocery store before work and there was a brother standing by the entrance with magazines. I smiled at him as I walked up. Hi he said, you must be a sister. Witnesses are the only ones that smile or say Hi to me he said.

  I would say it's like a secret society that reaffirms itself by the members giving the secret handshake. A confirmation that they belong to the ones in the know and that the work they are doing, has value. I could see the cart work being just that. Something that other witnesses see and can feel a part of it all without a word.

  he mentions health and viewing pornography.

  those who viewed pornography during the last year should not apply.

  That says a lot about the "spiritual paradise" they enjoy. It's an acknowledgement that pornography is being viewed quite often by the regular JW's.

  Goes along with the Shepard the Flock book on "if a brother has committed a sin but it isn't known by the public, and 3 -5 years have passed, then he could be used again" - not the exact wording.

  I wonder if they have a graph showing the level of the sin on one side and then months, years on the bottom. A cheat sheet to calculate when a sinning brother can be used.

  i was a witness, since the early 1950's, to the relentless claims of the wt society (then synonymous with jws) that this was the worst of times to be alive.

  if i had been more questioning and less accepting, i would never have become a shill for these apologists pf the murderous yhwh and his accomplice jesus,.

  I happen to watch a few channels about history. I haven't read the 536 piece yet but on one of the vids I watched, a body of an african american was accidentally unearthed in a iron coffin. At first, they thought it was a recent murder because the body was so well preserved. But then the iron pieces the excavator had mangled was found to be a coffin. When the archaeologists got there they were at first excited, then they were horrified. The body was covered with small pox pustules and they quickly called The Center of Disease and quarantined it in case there was still active viruses.

  The small pox wasn't viable, but they showed pictures of what small pox did to people. It was terrible. I hadn't realized how awful it was because I thought chicken pox was similar to it. On the lady that had died 150 years ago, it was all over her body and they even found that was on the lining of her brain. Very painful way to die. So a vaccine was made and by 1980 -83 it was eradicated. But many had died and suffered from it.

  The witness at work refuses vaccinations and I pointed out to her, she probably would have died if she hadn't taken it back then. In fact if no one took vaccinations, small pox would still be around. I remember taking the sugar cube for polio when I was a kid.

  So many terrible diseases are cured or controlled today.

  And of course, watching the history channels shows that humans can be cruel and vicious at any age in our history.

  One sunday, we took our dad out for lunch. Since it didn't open till 12:00, we were going to have to kill time. This restaurant is situated with other businesses around a small park and when we parked, we noticed there was a cart to the right in the park. It sat on the grass, barely touching the cement sidewalk and across from it sitting on a bench, was two brothers. One was infirm and had his walker (I think), parked across from him too.

  Most of the people in the park were not in that area but to the left, where children had a small activity gym to play on. We decided to walk my dad around the park so we went to the left so he could enjoy watching the children play. We then continued on the sidewalk around the park and came up to the next corner of the park to find another cart. This park holds music events and such so this corner had a cement area with benches and picnic tables. Behind the cart on one of these tables, sat two young women. They weren't actively doing the cart at that point, but a couple who were mexican. The husband was down on one knee with the bible open, in front of a mexican man on the bench. The bro was effectively blocking him from escaping and I felt embarrassed to be seeing it. Meanwhile, the two young sisters were just sitting there smiling. So at this point, there were six witnesses in this park, 4 manning the carts and two in the wings.

  As we went just 10' away, there was another table and lo and behold, another couple was there with their tablets. The sister looked up with a studied gaze at me looking at her. Then she and her buddy (husband?) went back to their tablets. So that makes 8 in the park. I guess they were waiting their turn along with the young ladies.

  As we went back towards the restaurant, another older sister stopped by to chat with the first two witnesses that we had seen.

  I haven't seen so many witnesses at one place in many years. Where I live, only the mexican witnesses do a slow stroll down the street to check on spanish speakers. Only have seen 4 at a time.

  I feel like I should have a sheet that marks off certain bird species.

  If any of us "in" ones went on our own and took water, food, and stuff we would probably be censured for not following theocratic order. RTN

  How true. They want to be the ones that get the glory. Too bad, with no where to go and people camping in parking lots, they could have donated the assembly profits to help out the displaced.

  But that would have made the GB's pockets cry.

  Conversation with my Dad today concerning the Leah Remini show

  dad : what daughter .

  joe : dont get mad or offensive, but there was a documentary that aired a few nights ago on prime time tv in the usa concerning the jws, and there was some very nasty stuff mentioned, and it certainly wasn’t positive toward the organisation.

  I'm not going to bother saying anything to my mother. She wouldn't have even heard of the Scientology part or that there was a part on JW's. She's a hopeless case and like with your dad, what good would it do?

  My youngest sister has taken to hiding where she is now living so I can't even try to discuss this with her.

  For those who are athest, or non-christian, how did you come to this decision?

  i'm not asking this question to cause an argument or accuse, but i am honestly just wondering?

  for those of you who are now atheist or non-christian, how did you come to this decision?

  i hadn't given this much thought until about a year ago.

  Once you have proof that their actions are the opposite of what they preach, (The Watchtower) then you start

  1. Examining their teachings vs the bible and find they don't match.
  2. See the bible and it's teachings in a different light.
  3. No longer excuse God or his followers for the terrible atrocities they commit.
  4. Have an enormous upheaval of what life is and what you believe about it.

  I believe there was something that created life here, but not by any perfect all knowing God.

  The Jehovah's Witnesses religion founded upon aggressive opportunistic people.

  taking a reflective look back onto the founders of the jw religion such as c t russell and j rutherford we can see very opportunistic people who were avowed to themselves more so than being actual true bible interpreters and adherents.. indication of that is just how closed in these men were in their individually devised theology such as pyramidology, end times doctrine, jesus has returned and so on, where there was no effort to substantiate these claims from outside sources by other christian religious organizations .. c t russell was not an trained bible theologian by any imagination he just absorbed any outside information that he thought was engaging or provocatively interesting and went about publishing what others had found or expressed.

  j rutherford was one these people who was lured into what russell was preaching and saw what the wts was as a publishing house and grab it including the money that russell had put into it.. the literature circulation and distribution continued on from him, what is realized now is the wts/jws preaching gospel work is not an faithfully accurate preaching according to scripture.

  more or less the wts leaders created a working cult around its own public sales representatives in the pretense of preaching the gospel of jesus christ.

  Opportunists are worse than criminals. Because an opportunist can be a family member or friend that sees an advantage and takes it no matter who is hurt or takes a loss. You just don't expect it. The world is rife with them unfortunately.
